Array Acoustics Options

PULSE Array Acoustics Metrics Calculations BZ-5638
This option enables the calculation and mapping of sound quality metrics. Depending on the processing chosen (Stationary, Transient, Quasi-stationary or Sound Quality Metrics), users have access to: stationary loudness, sharpness, statistical loudness, roughness, fluctuation strength, articulation index, impulsiveness (developed in partnership with ISUZU Motors Ltd., Japan), psychoacoustic annoyance or combined metrics.

PULSE Conformal Mapping Calculations BZ5637
Conformal mapping provides a map of sound pressure, sound intensity, or particle velocity directly on the actual surface geometry of an arbitrarily shaped object. Other mapping methods are typically restricted to work on simplistic planar (or spherical) approximations to the source geometry either for practical reasons or due to algorithmic limitations. Using a local SONAH approach the system calculates levels at the source surface based on a set of patch measurements, for example, from the hand-held array with integrated position detection device, made at accessible positions distributed around the source.

PULSE Transient Calculations BZ5636 & PULSE Quasi-stationary Calculations BZ5635
These options enable the main applications Beamforming, Spherical Beamforming and Acoustic Holography to be used under transient and the quasi-stationary conditions.

PULSE Refined Beamforming Calculations BZ-5639
Where the object under test can be considered to be composed of non-coherent sources, the Refined Beamforming BZ-5639, based on deconvolution algorithms, may be used to improve the spatial resolution of the noise maps by a factor of three. The Refined Beamforming BZ-5639 has been developed with the automotive industry for use in wind-tunnel measurements, although it also has applications outdoors for measurements on windturbines and on trains. Refined Beamforming is compatible with all measurements made with PULSE Array Acoustics Beamforming Calculations.
