As of 1 December 2008, Spectris plc, the productivity-enhancing instrumentation and controls company, has acquired the LDS Test and Measurement business from SPX Corporation.
LDS Test and Measurement shakers and Dactron controller and dynamic signal analysis products and services join Brüel & Kjær, while LDS data acquisition products and services will be rebranded under the HBM name. This means that both LDS and Brüel & Kjær customers will experience a greatly expanded product range and extended expertise to help solve sound and vibration problems.

I have a contract with LDS/Brüel & Kjær. What will happen with this?
Naturally we will honour any contract entered into in accordance with the terms of the contract. If you have any specific questions regarding contracts, please contact your Brüel & Kjær sales representative or your LDS sales representative.
What will happen with LDS’s products?
The products in the LDS Vibration Test Systems and Dactron lines are now a part of the Brüel & Kjær product portfolio. This means that the following product lines:
- Electrodynamic shakers
- Vibration tables and fixtures
- Power amplifiers
- Dactron Vibration Controllers
- Dactron Dynamic Signal Analyzers
will be integrated into the Brüel & Kjær business, enabling Brüel & Kjær to supply you with products for the complete measurement chain.
The Nicolet data acquisition products will be rebranded under the HBM name, so any questions you may have regarding this should be directed to HBM. Spectris will not acquire the Nicolet brand name.
I have a service contract with LDS. What will happen to this?
Naturally we will honour any contract entered into in accordance with the terms of the contract and any contact regarding service goes through the normal channels. The LDS acquisition means that the service network for both LDS and Brüel & Kjær customers will be expanded and that the service organisation will join forces to ensure fast and efficient service of all the product ranges. If you need to discuss any service issues, either in connection with existing contracts and products, or to discuss future service needs, please contact your LDS sales representative or your Brüel & Kjær sales representative.
