Marty Alexander

Martin has been with Brüel & Kjær for almost 30 years. Prior to joining the company in 1982 he worked as a consultant in architectural acoustics and noise control and participated on projects for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Highway Administration, and numerous private sector clients in the power generation, food processing, and pharmaceutical industries. At Brüel & Kjær, Martin has worked as a Field Sales Engineer, an Application Specialist, and a product manager. In the latter role he worked on a team which helped to define the specifications for the Type 2260 and 2236 Sound Level Meters. He currently shares responsibilities as sales engineer for the New York Metro/New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania areas and Solution Management for the Telecom-Audio market in North and South America. He continues to lecture for Brüel & Kjær in the areas of Acoustics and Vibration, and represents the company in several Acoustical Society standards groups. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Cooper Union and a Masters degree from MIT, both in mechanical engineering, and is a registered professional engineer in the state of New Jersey.

His interest in acoustics started in the late '60s, when playing rock and roll in Greenwich Village and became interested in the technical end of the recording process. He played in a blues band in the 90's, and still occasionally plays with the B&K Hillbert Transformers. He often quips that working for Brüel & Kjær helping to make the world quieter makes up for the noise he has made as a drummer for more than 40 years.
